Ever see one of your favorite tricks getting blasted in the reviews on Penguin?

I've been meaning to post this for a while. It's from an email I received from Sir Richard. Sir Richard is a heck of a smart guy. He's one of those people you could talk to on the phone all day long cause he just knows so much. Anyway, he read some product reviews that were blasting some really great items, and he wrote this:

People seem to think that the trick makes the magician. In fact, it's the other way around! The magician makes the trick! It's the personality, showmanship, and the little things you've done with it that "kill!"

As an example, I recently did a show for a fraternal organization. I had gone to great lengths to create the apparatus for Geof Williams' "Everything's a Radio." It fell flat!

Do you know what killed? The old Insurance Policy gag!!!

Now, I must place modesty aside & confess that I've added some great comedy touches, but that's my point! It's what I bring to a trick that's been around for a long, long time that people enjoy!

I realize that you're in the buisness to market magic effects, but I think that your prospects, customers, & yourself as well should be helped realize that what really makes a trick great is what they bring to the table themselves. They will, hopefully, perform better; & you will, hopefully, sell more effects!

Thanks for listening to my rant!
